Royal Mail!

From 'across the pond'...

The old lace I purchased from Penny in the United Kingdom.

Yippie! It took about 2 weeks, but the boat finally arrived!

Penny had a charming shop in France, but closed the doors, moved back to England, and put the shop's wares up for sale on her Etsy site. I followed her blog about living and having the little shop in France, and I was so excited for her. I followed her efforts with remodeling an old building, and admired her for her spirit.

I was so excited to get this lace, I didn't know exactly what I was getting, but I knew it would be a treasure trove with an interesting provenance.

And I had no idea whatsoever what I would do with the lace, but I just couldn't pass the opportunity by.

Think of all the hours that were spent making these crocheted items!

There are collars, cuffs, and long strands that could be gently stitched onto the edge of a curtain...

Many, many, 'bits and bobs'... most very fragile.

These could also be tacked to the edge of a shelf in an antique cupboard...

maybe stitched on a jacket or a purse...

or perhaps, with a bit of fabric attached, made into a table runner.

At this point, I'm just enjoying looking at the lace and thinking of it's history. I need to find a way to display this lace in an attractive way. Just a few of my 'favorites' here.

Thanks, Penny!

So pretty!! But when I read the title I thought you got an invite to the wedding! LOL. We were married the weekend before Charles and Di, so now I feel old. ;)

WOW! Pretty...pretty! Thanks for stopping by. I haven't blogged much this past year. Just seems like I am always busy, busy, busy. Blogging has sort of been pushed to the side, but I know things will slow down in a couple months and I will be back at it again.
Hugs,
TARA

Awesome treasures you have there. The very last photo of the squares, OUTSTANDING!.

I got a box like that off of ebay once, it was a huge box. I sat in the floor like a little child with a new toy just looking and marveling at each piece.

Hope you will post photos of what you make or do with them.
