This Is What We Did / Thanks 'Living' Day Drive

Almost the entire drive down to OK way, Handyman kept saying, "The roads are just packed!"
(See below).

Yessiree, we're just bumper to bumper here... just packed full, being over-run by vehicles, dangerous drivers out and about...
I took my nose out of my magazine long enough to look around and wonder what on earth he was talking about. We practically had the road to ourselves! Granted, Interstate 80 was fast and busy, but other than that, zilch. Guess everyone else was flying?

We showed up at Handyman's daughter's doorstep Thanksgiving day, ready to stuff ourselves silly.

Yummo. Handyman does the honors.

Actions speak louder than words.

All the traditional foods...

Handyman's daughter did it all while I sat with my feet propped up...

Homemade dressing, none of that boxed Stove Top Stuffing like I make...

Mmmm... best part... now we get to EAT!

Oh, forgot, another Best Part... the big reason we drove over 500 miles... this little one...

She is just a kill. Not yet 2 years, mind of her own, gives great 'kisses', on the go as long as she is awake.

Grampa needed time with her. He was her favorite. Grandma? Who's that?

She helped clean up the leaves...

But her main job was to be Grampa's Girl.

Our ThanksLiving wasn't just 'fine', it was WONDERFUL!
How did your's roll?

Hi Joy!
Oh goodness you had a long drive to get to your Thanksgiving destination but it looks like it was certainly worth it. The food looked delicious and what a sweet little granddaughter to enjoy! We had a nice Thanksgiving also and we traveled...but only about 20 something miles ;) It was nice to be with my husband's family...mine is all up in Canada and they had their Thanksgiving back in October. Thanks for sharing your wonderful holiday with us. Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

We prayed for good weather for travel and it was very nice. Yes I-80 traffic was extremely heavy and Hwy. 81 at times and I-135 through Wichita also. As the pictures show, the family time was the main thing, a blessing. We ate good and did some repairs and yard work as necessary and for fresh air and exercise. Of course we watched some college football also. We visited Gilcrease Museum, a Western art museum, and saw millions of dollars worth of original oil paintings and bronzes; Russell, Remington, Morton etc.. We saw a lot of ancient South American gold jewelry.

You can't stop time. We wish we could. God won't let us. Their are no 'freeze frames' in life. I have this grand daughter in Tulsa, but I have a granddaughter and grandson equally important in St. Louis, and two grandsons and a granddaughter in Lincoln I don't even know. God knows our heartaches, our deep pain and tears mixed with sorrows. We have to leave them at the foot of the cross and die to what we want and tell God we trust Him and are willing to accept what He gives us and let Him carry us when we can go on no longer.
